In order for an organization, corporation, limited liability company, partnership, sole proprietor or any other entity to operate as a TNC in Nebraska, it must apply for and receive a Permit of Authority from the Commission.
Information for Drivers
A participating driver contracting with a TNC is not required to obtain a permit or certificate of authority from the Commission when driving pursuant to the terms of the TNC. However, drivers must be approved to drive by the permitted TNC.
Drivers must carry proof of TNC insurance coverage with them at all times during the use of the vehicle in connection with a TNC's online-enabled application or platform. In the event of an accident, the TNC insurance information must be provided upon request to any other party involved in the accident and to law enforcement.
Drivers should contact his/her insurer or insurance agent to determine coverage options under his/her personal auto insurance policy.
If you have a lien on the personal vehicle that you will use as a TNC driver, you must notify your lienholder with this form.
The lienholder notification form must be completed by the intended driver and submitted to the driver's lienholder, such as a financial institution or family member. The lienholder form must be filed with the lienholder no later than seven (7) days prior to providing transportation services with a TNC.
The driver must then file a copy of the completed lienholder notification form and proof of receipt from the lienholder to the Commission.
Participating drivers shall not provide transportation for any person under contract with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services or any contractors of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services without specific authorization from the Commission. Such applicants must demonstrate that the proposed service is or will be required by the present or future or public convenience and necessity.
