PSC TO HOLD HEARING ON TELEPHONE
SERVICE QUALITY ISSUES
Lincoln, September 13, 2022 – On Tuesday, September 13,
the Nebraska Public Service Commission issued an Order
in docket (C-5303/PI-240) setting a public hearing to take
testimony from citizens who have experienced a telephone
service outage from either CenturyLink, Windstream or
Frontier.
“Telephone service quality issues are something we are
always concerned with,” said Commission Chair Dan
Watermeier. “The length of time it takes carriers to resolve
consumer problems and their reluctance to repair or
replace aging infrastructure needs to be addressed. This
hearing will allow us to hear from both the
telecommunication carriers and the citizens directly
affected by these issues.”
The public hearing will be held from 10:00 a.m.-to- 4:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, October 26 at the Center for Advanced
Manufacturing, Room 120, on the South Campus of
Metropolitan Community College, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez,
Ave., in Omaha.
Members of the public who have experienced a telephone
service outage from CenturyLink, Windstream or Frontier
are invited to submit-in-person public testimony during the
hearing. Those unable to attend the hearing, may submit
written testimony. A testimony form is available on the PSC
website at http://psc.nebraska.gov/telecommunications/c-
5303-public-hearing, Written testimony must be emailed to
psc.telecom@nebraska.gov by 5:00 p.m. on November 2.
Commission Watermeier said, “We hope to hear from anyone
who has recently experienced service quality issues involving
these three carriers. If you are unable to attend the hearing,
we would encourage you to submit written testimony.”
A live stream of the October 26 hearing will be available to
the public at https://psc.nebraska.gov/stream . Those
attending via the live stream will be muted and will not be
able to present testimony. ###
