PSC to Hold Hearing on Telephone Service Quality Issues

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PSC TO HOLD HEARING ON TELEPHONE
                                   SERVICE QUALITY ISSUES

Lincoln, September 13, 2022 – On Tuesday, September 13, the
Nebraska Public Service Commission issued an Order in docket
(C-5303/PI-240) setting a public hearing to take testimony from
citizens who have experienced a telephone service outage from
either CenturyLink, Windstream or Frontier.

“Telephone service quality issues are something we are always
concerned with,” said Commission Chair Dan Watermeier. “The
length of time it takes carriers to resolve consumer problems and
their reluctance to repair or replace aging infrastructure needs to
be addressed. This hearing will allow us to hear from both the
telecommunication carriers and the citizens directly affected by
these issues.”

The public hearing will be held from 10:00 a.m.-to- 4:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, October 26 at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing,
Room 120, on the South Campus of Metropolitan Community
College, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez, Ave., in Omaha.

Members of the public who have experienced a telephone service
outage from CenturyLink, Windstream or Frontier are invited to
submit-in-person public testimony during the hearing. Those
unable to attend the hearing, may submit written testimony. A
testimony form is available on the PSC website at
http://psc.nebraska.gov/telecommunications/c-5303-public-hearing,
Written testimony must be emailed to psc.telecom@nebraska.gov
by 5:00 p.m. on November 2.

Commission Watermeier said, “We hope to hear from anyone who
has recently experienced service quality issues involving these three
carriers. If you are unable to attend the hearing, we would encourage
you to submit written testimony.”

A live stream of the October 26 hearing will be available to the public
at  https://psc.nebraska.gov/stream . Those attending via the live
stream will be muted and will not be able to present testimony. ###
