PSC DISMISSES GRAIN DEALER COMPLAINT
LINCOLN – The Nebraska Public Service Commission
(PSC) has approved an order dismissing a complaint against
The Andersons Inc. and accepting a stipulated agreement
between the Ohio-based agribusiness and the PSC’s Grain
Department.
The complaint, filed Aug. 6, alleged violations of the state’s
Grain Dealer Act and Commission rules related to payment
for grain purchased from a Nebraska producer.
As part of the resolution, The Andersons provided records
demonstrating that the company had addressed the payment
issues raised in the complaint. In its review, the Grain
Department found that the issues were resolved and that it
had received no additional reports of payment problems
related to the company.
Under the stipulated agreement, The Andersons will pay an
administrative fine and the company’s Nebraska grain dealer
license will remain in good standing.
“Our priority is ensuring Nebraska’s grain laws are followed
and that producers are protected as the statutes intend,” said
Terri Fritz, Grain Department director. We’re satisfied that the
issues that led to the complaint have been addressed, and this
agreement provides an appropriate resolution that allows us to
bring the matter to a close.”
The Andersons denies the violations noted in the complaint,
and the stipulated agreement does not constitute an admission
that violations occurred.
The PSC’s Grain Department administers and enforces
Nebraska’s Grain Dealer Act, including licensing grain dealers
and investigating complaints involving grain transactions.
